Acts 1:2

until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.

It is all that Jesus began to do (poieo) and teach (didasko) until He was taken up to heaven. While He was with his apostles he gave them commands through the Holy Spirit. These teachings began at the outset of His earthly ministry in earlier portions of the Gospels and continued on even after His resurrection. The post resurrection actions and teachings were of the same nature as those before His death, except now Jesus is specifically preparing the disciples for His departure and the Holy Spirit to soon fill them and carry on the work of Jesus Christ and His ministry and kingdom. The instructions given do not change once He was raised, but remain the same: “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” – Mark 16:15 Matthew’s Gospel makes mention of the baptizing and discipling of the nations (Matthew 28:18-20) . If anything, it was the manner by which this would be accomplished that was now about to be addressed and take place. We find the model of “how” here in the book of Acts.
